Eventnet
A custom CMS that controls the homepage banner system and events calendar for The Library of Virginia's main website. This new system replaces an old system that used Microsoft Access. The new CMS focuses on user experience improvements such as re-ordering banner items with a drag-and-drop interface, in-browser image cropping and uploads, date and time widgets, and previews.
I was in charge of all graphic design and development decisions for the website. The website was created using HTML, CSS, JS, and PHP using Laravel.
Schedule Redesign
I redesigned the internal schedules used by Library of Virginia employees. The previous system used Microsoft Sharepoint and schedules were edited by one person who knew how to use the software. The redesign removed any need for Sharepoint and allows anybody with the password to make edits to the schedule within their web browser.
The new schedules were created using HTML, CSS, and JS.
Library of Virginia Webpage Redesign
I modernized the look of The Library of Virginia's website with many different tweaks such as adding contrast between the background and page's content, changing the font used for the site, updating the images to use text or vector images instead of raster images, and adding a lot more space around elements to give the page some room to breath. The homepage has been completely been redone to be mobile friendly, and has new features such as Twitter integration used to display emergency closings. High-traffic such as "Using the Collections" were redesigned to allow users to get to the information they need more easily.
The new website homepage was created using HTML, CSS, JS, and PHP.
